This trend of slowing down of computer is not for the very first time this issue has been happening over the number of years of my using Trend Micro as my internet security software.
Again, Chrome was slowed down to a tortoise pace. After continuously searching for number of hours to fix for the problem, later verified that the issue is not with Chrome, but with Trend Micro Maximum Security.
If you want to continue with the internet using Chrome, you should disable Trend Micro in order for Chrome to work normally as it used to. Which leaves you without any security.
Something is required to be changed in Trend Micro that is now the reason behind the slowing of Google Chrome in big-time, but Firefox, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge are all running just as they used to.
Try running Windows 10 64bit with 8gb’ Ram, and very fast internet bandwidth.

We just brought out Trend Micro Office Scan agent to about 10 Windows 7 Pro machines as a test batch. In every case the process slows down to the point where it’s almost unusable. One of our most important applications that runs from a mapped network drive (F:) and it went from taking about 20 seconds to launch to now over 5 minutes.
This happens almost every time we plan move to a new AV system and then you have to end tunning the exclusions list or closing features to strike a performance/security balance. Can you point out the right direction what to try first? I’ve already added F:\ to the exclusion list but “scan network drives” wasn’t checked anyway, and it didn’t improve things.
Generally talking about performance issues instance this are the result of conflicts between real-time scanning and some application on the computer, or inadequate hardware.
Some easy questions for you:
- Are you able to confirm which version of Office Scan you installed, and whether or not you installed any service packs and/or hot fixes?
- Are these desktops running any other applications, especially anything custom or industry unique?
- Aside from the one application taking a long time, is there other evidence of performance issues, or are you generalizing total performance just based on this single application being slow?
We generally prefer Trend as a swear word. Not because it has so many issues, but because it provides many options. It can be your best buddy or drag you down to crawling level. If the vendor supplied it they have to support issues that you are facing.
